In this 2022 study, we examined the effects of poor sleep on the various symptoms of whiplash-associated disorders (WAD).
The results show that people who have WAD, as well as poor sleep, will experience longer recovery time from WAD, higher levels of pain and/or disability, greater levels of mental stress, and a lower quality of life from a health perspective.
By understanding the role sleep plays in health outcomes in patients with a whiplash-associated disorder, physicians can expand their treatment options to better address a patient’s needs based on the symptoms the patient reports.
