Evidence-Based, Customized, and Measured
Research suggests that not all PRP is created equal. Commercial kits are often used to prepare PRP. Although convenient, they have limitations including fixed settings that limit control over key variables — like PRP volume, and the platelet, leukocyte (white blood cell) and red blood cell content concentrations – all of which can influence clinical outcomes.
We’ll go the extra mile and offer a report outlining the dose of platelets that were delivered to the treated structure. After processing your customized dose of PRP, one of our highly trained Sports Medicine or Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist physicians will always use image-guidance (fluoroscopy and/or ultrasound) to ensure it is delivered to you with utmost precision.Â
At Vivo Cura Health, in-house research has guided the development of our proprietary processing protocols in order to produce a peripheral blood-derived PRP product that is customized to the structure being treated, as well as the condition of that structure.
When it comes to PRP, how it’s made and delivered matters — and we are committed to follow the evidence of the best and most current scientific research.
WHAT CURRENT RESEARCH SAYS | HOW VIVO CURA APPLIES IT |

|---|---|---|
Dose and Concentration MatterHigher platelet concentrations (e.g. >1billion/mL) and doses (e.g. ≥10 billion for the knee joint) are associated with better outcomes. View the research | Proprietary Spin MethodEvery PRP dose is customized using our proprietary spin protocol, which was developed to target evidence-based platelet dose thresholds. |

PRP Outperforms AlternativesIn the knee joint, combining PRP with hyaluronic acid (HA) enhances results, compared to PRP aloneView the research | We Don’t Shy Away from Suggesting PRPHyaluronic acid can be added to treatments for patients with knee pain seeking enhanced long-term pain relief and improved functional outcomes. |

PRP With Hyaluronic Acid is More EffectiveCombining PRP with hyaluronic acid (HA) enhances results compared to PRP alone. View the research | We offer PRP + HA OptionsHA can be added to treatments for patients seeking enhanced long-term pain relief and improved functional outcomes. |

PRP Combined With Rehab Optimizes Results | Rehab Is Built Into Our Care ModelVivo Cura offers in-house physiotherapy following your treatments. Whether you work with our onsite therapists or your own, we support post-injection rehab to optimize results. |
|
Image-Guidance MattersImage-guided injections are more accurate, lead to improved results and are more comfortable to the patient than injections done without image-guidance. View the research | Image-Guided PRP DeliveryWe have invested in high quality imaging technology (ultrasound and/or fluoroscopy), which our physicians use to deliver the optimized PRP precisely to the target. |

Site of PRP InjectionPRP injections into both the joint cavity (intra-articular) and into the bone adjacent (intra-osseous) has been shown to be one of the only effective treatments of advanced osteoarthritis.View the research | Intra-Articular and Intra-Osseous PRPFor patients with severe osteoarthritis, we offer the combination of intra-articular (into the joint) and intra-osseous (into the bone) injections. |
We’re raising the bar in Platelet Rich Plasma therapy — PRP programs guided by research to optimize results.
Research evidence shows that the best results come from multiple image guided PRP injections, paired with hyaluronic acid and physical rehabilitation. Unfortunately, PRP is not covered by Alberta Health Care and is an out-of-pocket investment, so we offer flexible, tiered packages — each thoughtfully designed to incorporate as many evidence-based elements as possible to fit your needs and resources.Â
All of our PRP is processed in consideration of the area we are treating using our proprietary, research-informed method and delivered via image-guidance (ultrasound or fluoroscopy) to optimize safety, accuracy and treatment effectiveness
*Patients can optionally include Hyaluronic Acid with any PRP injectionÂ
We don’t just follow the evidence—we help create it. We are always trying to improve our method while helping others with theirs; by tracking, analyzing and publishing research on our outcomes, we have been able to develop a significant database in Canada.
