RADIOFREQUENCY ABLATION (RFA) OF THE KNEE

Pain in the knee joint is common. Sometimes, conventional treatments do not adequately control the pain. A new treatment that deadens some of the nerve endings that give the feeling to the joint, provides an option.

Under image guidance, a special needle is placed over each of the nerves that carry the pain messages from the joint. This needle tip is heated up and the pain carrying nerve endings are deadened. Below is a video showing how we use this approach to treat knee pain.

At this time, radiofrequency ablations of the knee are not insured by the public healthcare system.
