Fun Seeking Declines with Pain Duration in People with Whiplash-Associated Disorders

What question is this study trying to answer?

In this first-of-its-kind study, we take a look at the relationship between different reward processes and health outcomes with chronic whiplash injuries.

What did we learn?

The results show that fun, drive, reward and behavioural inhibition did not demonstrate any relationship with health outcomes in people with chronic whiplash injuries, although as the duration of pain increased, fun seeking reduced.

Why is this relevant?

These findings are consistent with other research demonstrating that personality type is not associated with health outcomes in people with chronic whiplash injuries.
