This is a Cochrane Review protocol aiming to assess the benefits and harms of glucocorticoid facet‑joint injections in adults with chronic back or neck pain presumed to originate from facet joints. A secondary objective is to determine whether outcomes vary by diagnostic method for facet‑joint–mediated pain.
As this is a protocol rather than completed results, it doesn’t yet offer findings. It outlines the methodology for a systematic review that, once completed, will synthesize evidence on whether these injections provide meaningful benefit and how diagnostic strategies may influence outcomes.
Chronic back and neck pain from facet joints is a common contributor to persistent discomfort. A rigorously designed review like this will guide clinicians on the effectiveness and safety of glucocorticoid injections, and whether tailored diagnostic approaches improve decision‑making and patient outcomes.
