Thais graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy from the Federal University of Sao Paulo. She initiated her career in Canada as a Physiotherapist Assistant in early 2014, later becoming fully registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta. Thais has completed the Canadian Orthopaedic Division Level I Training in Manual Therapy as well as the Part A & B of the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT).
In 2018, Thais joined the Alberta’s Workers Compensation Board (WCB) Integrated Shoulder Rehabilitation / Shoulder Surgical Review Program as a treating therapist, assisting patients during their conservative and/or post-surgical rehabilitation. After years working mostly with shoulders, Thais decided to further develop her expertise in regards to Upper Extremity care. She dedicated extensive time & efforts on learning this new skill set thus, in 2021, she challenged & passed the Hand Therapy Certification Exam and proudly became a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT). As she continues to actively pursue and participate in continuing education courses, Thais initiated a 1-year Virtual Hand to Shoulder Fellowship, graduating in April of 2024.
In addition to English, Thais is proficient in her native language, Portuguese, and has basic to intermediate skills in Spanish and Italian. As a language enthusiast, she embarked on a French course in April of 2023 to further expand her linguistic repertoire.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Thais has a rich background in sports and culture. For nearly a decade, she competed in volleyball at a competitive level in Brazil. In her leisure time, she finds joy in exploring the world and practicing capoeira, Brazil’s distinctive martial art.
