Dr. Erika Fridfinnson was born and raised in Calgary, AB. She studied Behavioural Neuroscience at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, before returning to Calgary where she completed both medical school and her Family Medicine residency training. She then completed a Diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine through the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine (CASEM).

Her interest in sport medicine grew out of her own experiences playing sports throughout her life, including competitive soccer, and varsity-level track and field at UBC. Her desire to help others with their musculoskeletal injuries (or other concerns) also stems from her own experience recovering from multiple sports injuries, and she is eager to pass on her wisdom from this.

Dr. Fridfinnson splits her time between full-scope family medicine and her focused practice of sport medicine. She has provided medical coverage for various sporting events, ranging from local high school leagues to Western Canadian and National Championships, and continues to add new sports to her repertoire. She is also passionate about teaching medical students and residents in her various roles and is a Clinical Lecturer through the University of Calgary Cumming School of Medicine.

When she is not at work, she enjoys playing co-ed soccer, cheering for the Calgary Flames, and spending time with family, friends, and cats.
