How does virtual healthcare work?

  • Virtual appointments are accessed online through your computer, tablet or smartphone. Most internet browsers are compatible.
  • Once an appointment is made, a secure email is sent directly to you, which outlines your appointment details and provides a link to the instructions for setting up your device for your appointment.

What is required for a virtual appointment?

  • You must have internet access.
  • Your device must have a camera and microphone.
  • If you do not have these, don’t worry, we are happy to arrange a phone consultation.

What do I need to do to get ready for an appointment?

  • You will need to create a free account in OnCall, our Virtual Care platform. To do so, click on the link in the appointment email and then follow the instructions.
  • Setting an account up is quick and easy, but if you have any technical difficulties OnCall has both a telephone helpline and live chat option available to help walk you through the process.
  • We recommend setting up your account at least 24 hours prior to your appointment time.
  • Just as in the office, we ask that you log on and arrive 10 minutes early for your virtual appointment. Unforeseen circumstances can make a healthcare provider late for an appointment.  If your healthcare provider does not show up online at the scheduled time of the appointment, do not end the session.  If the healthcare provider is more than 20 minutes late for the online session, call Vivo Cura Health at 403-265-3838 for further instruction.
  • For identification purposes, please have your Health Care card and Driver’s Licence ready.
  • Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes to aid the physician in the assessment process.
  • Please have a phone ready in case the internet connection is unstable, the healthcare provider can call you.
