2026-2027 Fellows

Joel Peltonen, MD, completed his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency at the University of Saskatchewan. He developed a foundation in neurological and musculoskeletal rehabilitation and focused his elective time on gaining expertise in musculoskeletal medicine. During an elective experience at Vivo Cura Health, he was drawn to the approach that Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine (ISMM) physicians utilize.
This approach, which involves a deep understanding of disease processes, biomechanics, imaging, and the use of diagnostic procedures, directly influenced patient outcomes. While alternative paths exist for learning interventional spine procedures, the ISMM fellowship offered the most refined approach to patient selection and clinical care. Dr. Peltonen is excited to develop the clinical skills necessary for the evidence-based application of interventional techniques within an overarching rehabilitation plan.
